Carlos Madero (CMAD) CrossFit, Paleo, Strength

In the spring of 2007, the movie 300 hit theaters in the USA. The actors were put through demanding workouts to create the kind of strength and power they would need to accurately portray Spartan warriors. Inspired by their dedicated training and obvious physical results, I researched their methods and found CROSSFIT.

I joined a local box to learn more and experience the workouts for myself, but I was hesitant to give up my Globo Gym membership. Could CrossFit really offer me more than my current gym routine? As it turns out, a lot more. Soon, I was off the Globo Gym and fully embraced the CrossFit ideology. I then began to explore other aspects of fitness followed by top athletes in the community: strength training and Paleolithic nutrition.

Since discovering CrossFit, I have earned my Level 1 certification; studied diet and nutrition with Robb Wolf, a former research biochemist and one of the world’s leading experts in Paleolithic nutrition, or “The Paleo Diet” (check out “Eat Like a Caveman” under our Articles menu—then feel free to ask me any questions!); and learned strength training techniques from Mark Rippetoe, the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist & USA Weightlifting Level III Coach.

By combining all three methodologies, I have been able to improve my health and overall physical fitness to levels never before attained in my life. As a trainer, I want to give our members this same experience. Through your will, I can show you the ways to acheive your fitness goals.
